Oh, to ride you bare back, wild one,
we would race the wind!
eddies of eternity lapping at your ankles,
a cloud of dust in our wake,
our manes billowing out behind us.
spirit of wind and water,
creature of salt and earth,
we are one.
hunger animates our bodies,
fire burns in our loins,
feral blood courses through our ancient veins.
This poem is an excerpt from my recent labor of love, an artists book entitled “Verses (from the Garden of Evergreen and Memory). The book contains 40 images and accompanying text. The print you see here is of the wild horse that I saw on Cumberland Island. This is a unique handmade print, a coffee and tea-toned cyanotype on watercolor paper. It measures 8.5” x 8.5”.
New cyanotypes and excerpts from the book coming soon.
Until next time…
Anne
